geeBowlinWith both Moxo and Cowlo otherwise engaged this weekend, Lewso was in charge and won the toss (he called heads just as Moxo has done each match but to no availĀ  ). Our line up of 10 included John Kearns son Jack, and Lewso chose to bat first. We opened in cautious mode with Gee and the newly married Dan E but alas Gee was bowled (by Teddy E) for 4 in the 6th over – 5 for 1. Kearns senior into the action in Baz mode hitting 3 boundaries off his first 7 deliveries. He hit a rapid 23 off just 16 balls before he too perished at the hands of Teddy by skying a difficult catch – 33 for 2 off 12. This became 33 for 3 off 12 as Blackadder was adjudged LBW for 6 and then Lewso perished next over without adding to the score 33 for 4 off 13. Rob Davies and Robyn Shuter now at the crease and they had added 17 when Robyn went fishing at a wide ball and was caught for 10 – 50 for 5 off 17.

Big Nick sauntered out to join Rob and between them they put on our best partnership of 48 and then Rob was caught and bowled for 14 – 98 for 6 off 25. Big Nick was bowled for 25 in the next over – 98 for 7 and Greenwell was also bowled after striking a good looking 6 – 105 for 8 off 27. This left us with Harry and Kearns jun as our last pair and they added 5 to the total before young Jack K was bowled for 2 and we finished on 110 off 29 overs.

As our innings had finished somewhat earlier than expected with regards to having tea, Alkham went into bat straightaway with Blackadder and Gee opening the bowling for us and Gee struck with the last ball of his first over, bowling their No. 1 for a duck – 7 for 1 off 2. The next pair had added 28 when Blackadder took a good C&B – 35 for 2 off 9. He also claimed the only other wicket to go, an LBW decision – 44 for 3 off 13, at which point tea was taken. At the resumption a double bowling change was made with Rob and Big Nick taking over and Alkham upped the scoring rate by knocking off the runs needed in just 6 overs, finishing on 113 for 3 off 19 overs. Who wants to bet that when Moxo next calls heads at the toss he loses
