After a complete stuffing by Brook last week in the Regional League Saltwood were determined to get their first victory of the season against Ramsgate Corinthians.

With rain predicted for later in the day the match was cut down to 35 overs each form the start and Ramsgate got off to a good start by winning the toss and electing to bat first. A solid start by the openers before Tom Leaver took them both out (45-1 and 48-2) A steady middle order performance left Ramsgate on 157-6 off their 35 overs.

Saltwood veteran Jeremy Russell failed to keep his promise of not playing the cut shot before June and suffered the consequences, leaving Saltwood on 6-1. A flow of runs from G and low scores from the rest of the top order resulted in a below par 44-3. G partnered with the middle order trio of Tom Carr (25), Dan Rose (13) and Dan Cowell (21)  to take SCC up to 146-6 and victory in sight. Unfortunately the tail failed to wag with the last 4 wickets going for 0 leaving G high and dry on 55 not out and Saltwood 3 runs short of victory. And everyone was happy.

Thanks for the Kent Regional League rules Saltwood escaped with a hat full of bonus points and a mid-table position.
