We move on from last week’s surprising weekend of cricket to an absolute shocker of a weekend. First off the Saturday XI lost to bottom of the table Bossingham with the batsmen having to hold their hands up for this one. The one exception was Chris Fox who followed on from his highly impressive performance behind the stumps.
For once we bowled and fielded well, dropping just two catches and one blatant refusal from Cowlo. The fines pot is just £3 better off as Dan decided that it was just £1 a drop this week, probably because he was paying up. Bossingham managed 133 all-out with all of the bowlers chipping in with wickets. For some inexplicable reason we, except Foxy, decided to bat like total morons and get bowled out for just under the 100 mark.
Sunday’s KVL match against Aldington was a tense affair with a fair bit of banter between both teams and the hecklers from the pub. A 10 man Saltwood team posted a decent score of 211 but unfortunately lost G for the rest of the match to a calf strain. The Saltwood 9 took to the field restricting Aldington to around 100 for 4 at the half-way point. Unfortunately for us, Dan and James both decided to find the batting form that eluded them the day before and the game was effectively over. Cars and spectators were in danger from the 6 hitting Hulk who had little respect for bad or even good bowling. Cowlo was a bit boring, but managed to rotate the strike to good effect. We remain at opposite ends of the league, with our Division 3 survival looking safe and Aldington’s promotion to Division 2 looking a safe bet.
