A double header at Saltwood this weekend with two victories and league points all round.

Saturdays match against Willesborough ended in a victory for Saltwood thanks to debutant Charlie Englebretson’s batting skills down at number 11. Willesborough were bowled out for 146 off 41.2 overs, with tight bowling from opening duo Owen Reed and Ian Oakes, backed up by spells from Grenville Cartledge and Jack Woods. 146 was 50 runs short of a par score but the Saltwood reply made it look like a winning total at 90 for 7.

A captain’s innings from Teddy Easthope (26) and heavy hitting from Brice Dempster (31) got us close to the 147 required but two quick wickets left the last pair of Owen Reed and Charlie Englebretson to secure the victory. Owen’s huge swipe at his second ball didn’t inspire the home team, but a well hit four and hard run three took SCC to the 147 runs required for victory.
