A fantastic win for Saltwood, played in good spirit against a nice bunch of lads from Minster CC. After winning the toss and putting Minster into bat, Cowlo’s decision wasn’t looking to bright at 70 for no wicket. A change of bowling and a great run-out proved to be the inspiration for a mini collapse, taking Minster from 70-0 to 97-4.
Minster’s batsmen Mark Richardson, Llewellyn Boucher, and Paul Lee steadied the ship and got them up to a competitive 236 for 9 from their 46 overs. Graham Semadini was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 34 off his 12 overs.
The Saltwood innings started well with Paul Parkingson and G hitting plenty of 4’s before a hamstring injury got the better of G (34 retired). Paul (44) fell short of his 50 but provided a solid start to the run chase. Cowlo (57) hit his way to a decent score at last, supported by Matt W (21) and the big hitting Graham (34, 4x6s and 2x4s). With victory in sight, Cowlo was bowled leaving the last few runs to be nervously hit by Ian who managed to produce one of most timid pull shots ever witnessed at SCC.
Thanks to Minster for a great game. Full Scorecard
